Question by lebanesecheese2: Can a soccer goalie pass from outside the box back to himself? A friend and I were debating about the ruling in such a play. If the ball was outside the box, and the goalie kicked it into the box and picked it up, is it legal, or would it be considered a foul (of course as an indirect)? I was thinking that this would be a foul, because it say a player cannot intentionally pass back to their own goalie (unless using their head), and as the goalie was outside the box, he would technically be considered as a normal player on the field; so to pass it to the “goalie” (although it may be to himself) would be an infraction.

Answer by Tosh No it’s not an infraction. The goalie can kick the ball into his area and pick it up. He’s not passing it back to the goalie, he’s not passing it to anyone. There has to be another person involved for a pass to occur.

Question by Jen is done being cooked.: Is being the “goalie” on the soccerteam sort of like being the designated door holder? My clumsy kid is so excited that she’s the goalie.
She doesn’t realize they put her there because she’s got 2 left feet, is afraid of the ball, and the points don’t matter in PeeWee sports anyway..
